Sledding

Dog Sledding, otherwise known as Mushing, is a hugely popular sport as well as way of life for many people, especially in northern climates. There are three main types of races; Sprint races, Mid-distance races, and Long-distance races. The most famous Long-distance race is the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. This race was inspired by true life events of the hero dog Balto and the serum run to Nome, Alaska in 1925. Sledding is not as easy as the professionals make it look, but it is certainly as fun as it appears! There is a lot to learn about training the dogs, choosing the right gear, how to handle the team on the trail, and what to do in emergencies.

Skijoring

Skijoring is a sled dog sport that is rapidly gaining in popularity and one of the best things about it is that you don't need a sled! All you need is cross-country skis, some winter gear, and one or two, ready-to-run, working dogs! There's really no limit, if you want to ski with three or more pups, it's all up to you!
