Exercise
Siberian Huskies love to run! They are also innovative and clever escape artists, which can make ensuring that they get what they need safely. Exercise is as important to the life and health of a Sibe as it is to human people. There are a few options for Huskies and would benefit from daily walks or even jogs. Having a large yard is great, as long as the fence is at least six feet tall. Huskies love to dig, so be sure to fortify below the fence line. Concrete is good, but buried chicken wire will also help prevent escapes. Huskies aren't best suited for typical apartment living, but can adapt with proper training and, you guessed it, exercise.
Weather
Siberian Huskies run best in cold weather. Their lungs are able to maximize the oxygen exchange from the air at colder temperatures, which is a big part of their endurance. Surprisingly, they are better capable of handling warmer climates than shorter-haired dogs. Siberians unique genetics internally, combined with their double coats, actually helps insulate them from temperature. This is because in their native Siberia the temperatures can range from 50 degrees above 0 to 50 degrees below 0 in a 24 hour period. They still do get hot, and care should still be taken when exercising them in hot weather.
Dog Parks
Dog Parks can be a lot of fun and a great place to socialize Siberian Huskies. It's important to keep in mind the temperment p of the Sibe and the other dogs in the park. Huskies love to socialize and play with other dogs. Keep an eye on the playful pups in case there is ever a genuine disagreement. Keep all vaccinations current so that nothing is passed around at the park, if anything is being passed around your pup is protected, and never forget heart-worm/parasite prevention.
Pens
As mentioned above, an type of yard where you want to let your Husky run loose needs to be properly secured. Interesting fact; they don't need a massive yard to get enough exercise. For example, a pen that is 20 feet by 15 feet, a total of 300 square feet, would be sufficient, but it is highly recommended to NEVER leave a pup unsupervised! A lonely pup gets bored, a bored pup gets creative, and a creative pup escapes. If there are two or more to play together, they will have a good time and likely wear each other out. Consider the neighborhood as well in case there are any concerns that someone might try to steal the Sibe.
