Siberian Huskies
Sled Dogs
Siberian Huskies first came to the United States of America in 1908 to be used as sled dogs. They are medium sized, strong, graceful, and very friendly. They do follow a pack structure and it is very important to be aware of Alpha personalities.
The Husky is easily recognized for it's multicolored coat and very special eyes. Their eyes can be both blue, brown, parti, and any combination thereof.
In 1910, a team of Siberian Huskies won their first 400 mile race in Alaska and in 1925, a team of Siberians led by the famous Balto, brought desperately needed medicine to Nome, Alaska during a diptheria outbreak.

For the Love of the Breed
Siberians have wonderful, friendly personalities, which makes them great with people but terrible watch dogs. Don't bother with the Beware of Dog sign, a Sibe is happy to let anyone in.
Huskies love to pull, and there are many activities that they are good at. They can get along great with other dogs, but they can have a strong prey drive, which means they'd enjoy chasing small animals, including cats and small dogs.
These dogs can get bored easily, and are extremely inventive escape artists. Before adopting a Siberian Husky, thorough research can help decide if this animal is right for you and your family. They are a very special breed, they live a long time, and they are very loyal to those who value them. Siberians are a lifetime of joy, mischievousness, and companionship.
